All Natural Hair Lamination DIY
Writing natural beauty DIY's is so much fun because it forces me to always be hunting outside of my comfort zone and experimenting with new ideas. Today, I'm so happy to report that I finally found a super-effective, shine-enhancing, hair-saving, length-growing hair mask that costs next to nothing and can be used anytime you need it.
My friends, I give you the Gelatin Mask (aka Hair Lamination)
While I love having long hair, sometimes it struggles to stay hydrated and can look dry and feel damaged. After using this mask, it immediately felt softer and smoother. The more you use it, the shinier your hair will become.
But How Does It Work?
Gelatin naturally contains keratin proteins which actually bind with hair to strengthen it. Did you know that 80% of the structure of your hair is protein? By feeding and strengthening the proteins within each strand, you'll have truly healthier, softer and smoother hair.
Side-note: Most inexpensive, store-bought conditioners contain silicone, which coats your hair and causes it to feel smoother and shinier, but is actually blocking moisture and results in more and more breakage/ split ends over time.
Those of you with curly hair, this little mask will also reduce frizz and make it more manageable. Bonus!

-2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
-1 1/2 Cup Hot Water
DIY Ultra Shiny Hair Mask:
Heat your water until just boiling and add the coconut oil and gelatin packets. Stir constantly until the powder is completely dissolved and apply to dry hair. Wrap your hair in a warm, wet towel and let it soak for at least 15 minutes. Rinse and shampoo and condition as usual.
After your hair is dry, you should notice a difference the first time you use it.
I have been using this mask after beach days or to prep for trips. When I started using a gelatin mask, my hair was often feeling dry and brittle towards the ends. Now, it's completely turning around and today, I had a hard time keeping it in a ponytail to complete a workout.
Give this hair mask a try and let me know how it goes!
